About Us

Established in 2013, JE Good Consulting Engineers, LLC (JEGoodCE) is a consulting engineering and design firm that serves the architecture, construction, and facility operations industries. 

Our professional team includes in-house electrical and mechancial engineering staff together with select strategic partners which allow us to provide fully-coordinated, full-service mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire alarm design services.  

After spending more than 15 years working for some of the largest engineering firms in the country, firm founder James Good, P.E. launched this firm with the goal of providing the top-notch technical expertise of a large firm but with the dedicated attention to client service of a small firm. Jim believes the best engineering solutions require a hands-on, relationship-focused approach, so we can be fully engaged with the project team to identify all of the client's needs. 

A graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology, Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His vast accumulation of education and experience as a professional engineer, both in design and commissioning, spans over 30 years and includes projects across the US and internationally.  

Prior to founding his own firm in 2013, Jim spent his earlier career serving in senior leadership roles with several prominent consulting engineering firms in the Baltimore/Washington area. His areas of expertise include low and medium voltage power distribution systems, power generation systems, building, site and roadway lighting, fire alarm systems, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV systems, and communication systems. Jim is a frequent speaker on the topics of roadway lighting design, lighting controls, and application of the International Energy Conservation Code for NSPE-PA conferences and other organizations.

Complementing his electrical engineering expertise, Jim possesses project management experience in MEP, E/A, and A/E environments requiring management of internal teams and external design firms plus electrical sub-contractors. This includes A/E prime consultant management of minority and disadvantaged business contractual requirements. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, with sustainable design experience on projects involving light pollution control, energy efficiency, daylight control, measurement and verification, and photo voltaic technologies. 

In addition to spending time with his wife and 2 children, Jim enjoys reading, sailing, and recreational target shooting. He claims to be a fairly decent golfer but often sees way too much of the course.
